In early 2021, we launched a new feature called membership tiering. This feature allows users to choose their benefits based on three types of membership: Lite, Plus, and Premium.

  • Some users were unable to differentiate the requirements for each membership tier.

  • Users didn't fully understand their product needs, leading them to choose memberships without knowing which was best for them

Design objectives

  • Help users understand the membership tiers better.

  • Provide recommendations for different needs.

  • Ensure users select the correct membership to avoid unnecessary efforts.

  • Reduce customer support tickets related to users being unable to submit student IDs because they hadn't officially registered as students.

  • Offer recommendations to prevent users from choosing the wrong membership.

  • Create an easy and fun experience while adding a few steps after account registration.
